ABOUT
Founder, Chief Doctor of Chinese Medicine & Director of Clinical Education
For more than two decades, Dr. Rachel Cheng-Jung Chen has dedicated her life to advancing the clinical practice, education, preservation, and innovation of Zhongdao Medicine. Guided by her lifelong mission of Serving All Beings Through Zhongdao Medicine, she is committed to bringing the wisdom of traditional Chinese medicine to modern healthcare while helping people live healthier, more fulfilling lives.
Dr. Chen has extensive clinical experience, with particular expertise in cardiovascular diseases, general internal medicine, critical care, women's health, complex and difficult-to-treat conditions, and integrative body–mind–spirit medicine. Guided by the philosophy of addressing the root cause of illness rather than merely managing symptoms, she integrates acupuncture, Classical Formula Medicine (Jing Fang), and precise clinical pattern differentiation to develop highly personalized treatment plans. By carefully considering each patient's constitution, underlying disease mechanisms, and stage of illness, she helps restore the body's natural healing capacity while promoting long-term physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
Drawing upon decades of clinical research and experience, Dr. Chen has pioneered several original clinical systems, including the Emergency Acupuncture Technique for Cardiovascular Diseases, the Qi Ascending and Descending Acupuncture System for General Internal Medicine, numerous original herbal formulas, and the Theory and Clinical Practice System of Elevating the Yang Qi of the Five Zang Organs. These innovations have been successfully applied in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, internal medical disorders, and critically ill patients, benefiting countless individuals through exceptional clinical outcomes.
Beyond patient care, education has always been at the heart of Dr. Chen's mission. She has created dozens of community health education programs, public seminars, and professional training courses dedicated to promoting Zhongdao Medicine and preventive healthcare. She believes that lasting health begins with the transformation of our mindset, values, daily habits, and actions. By empowering people to make meaningful changes in the way they think and live, she hopes to improve public health, enhance quality of life, and ultimately help people transform their own lives.
In recent years, Dr. Chen has devoted herself to mentoring the next generation of physicians. By integrating the timeless wisdom of Classical Formula Medicine, the principles of human ethics and moral cultivation, the evolving needs of modern society, and next-generation integrative medical thinking, she seeks to educate physicians who combine clinical excellence with compassion, educational leadership, innovation, and a global perspective.
Dr. Chen is the Founder, Chief Doctor of Chinese Medicine, and Director of Clinical Education at Da Yi Classic Acupuncture & Herbs in Los Angeles, California. She is also the founder of the Da Yi Zhuque Network – Thousand Hands & Thousand Eyes Global Medical Service System, a global humanitarian medical initiative dedicated to expanding international medical collaboration, physician education, and compassionate healthcare. Guided by the principles of Harmony with the Way, Virtue, and Propriety, she is committed to building an international medical service network that connects healthcare professionals around the world and extends quality healthcare to underserved communities—bringing compassionate medical care wherever it is needed.
Dr. Chen began her medical training under the mentorship of Dr. Liao Chiu-Te, studying the theory and clinical practice of Chinese medicine for five years. She later apprenticed under the renowned physician Dr. Ni Hai Xia for seven years, including four years of direct clinical training. Deeply influenced by Dr. Ni's mastery of Classical Formula Medicine, clinical pattern differentiation, and exemplary medical ethics, she has integrated these teachings into her own clinical practice while continuing to pioneer innovative approaches to patient care.
Today, Dr. Chen continues to shape the future of Zhongdao Medicine by integrating Classical Formula Medicine, acupuncture medicine, clinical pattern differentiation, next-generation integrative medicine, and body–mind–spirit healthcare into a unified medical system. Guided by her unwavering belief in Serving All Beings Through Zhongdao Medicine, she is dedicated to cultivating physicians who embody compassion, clinical excellence, professional integrity, innovative thinking, and a lifelong commitment to global medical service.
